Afghanistan National Standards Authority Shares Achievements in Standardization and Quality Control for the Year 1446 A.H. with Media and Public

The Afghanistan National Standards Authority (ANSA) today shared a comprehensive report on its achievements, activities and future plans with the media and the public during a special session at the Government Media & Information Center.

 

In this program, attended by senior officials of the authority, the head of the Government Media & Information Center, and representatives from domestic media, officials elaborated on key achievements and future prospects.

 

At the beginning of the program, Mawlawi Wahid Ahmad Badri, Head of the Office of the National Standards Authority, explained the fundamental mission and objectives of the authority, stating: "The National Standards Authority plays a crucial role in ensuring quality, public health, supporting domestic products, and national economic growth. In the year 1446 A.H., we successfully finalized and approved 228 standards and testing methods in 4 meetings of the High Council for Standards, and over 50,000 samples of construction materials, textiles, leather, and electrical equipment have been quality-certified in the capital and the country's ports."

 

He also announced the official launch of quality control activities at the Ghulam Khan, Dand Patan, and Sher Khan ports, the expansion of the authority's organizational structure, the establishment of metrology laboratories, and the enhancement of research capacities.

 

Following this, Mawlawi Mohammad Asif Qanat, the Technical Deputy of the National Standards Authority, shared more technical details with the media, saying:

 

"As the sole authority for quality verification and control, the National Standards Authority has taken firm steps towards the country's development and progress in the fields of standardization, conformity assessment, metrology, accreditation, and scientific research."

He added that over the past year, with the convening of 128 technical committees, 134 standards and 213 testing methods have been finalized, making a total of 980 approved national standards currently available and enforceable.

 

He further added: In the past year, 80 manufacturing and import companies across the country have been monitored, and in the area of consumption norm verification, 1,865 types of vehicles, machinery, and equipment have been normed.

 

Additionally, 558 samples in the capital and 52,237 samples of construction materials in the country's ports have been analyzed and quality-certified in laboratories.

 

Mr. Qanat also announced the finalization of the Standardization Law and its submission to the honorable Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs. He also noted the progress in finalizing the Metrology Law, the completion of the project to equip the metrology laboratory, and the submission of this law to the Legislative Documents Review Commission.

 

Next, Mufti Mohammad Hamid, Director of Plan and Policy at the National Standards Authority, reported on the expansion of the authority's international interactions, stating:

 

"The National Standards Authority's relations with regional and international standardization organizations have expanded over the past year, and these relationships have led to the exchange of standard-related knowledge and global experiences."

 

He stated; "In accordance with the decree of the Amir al-Mu'minin (may Allah protect him), land has been allocated for the construction of standard offices in six port provinces of the country, and practical measures are underway to begin the construction of this infrastructure."

 

He also announced the drafting of important procedures for issuing quality certificates, the use of the standard mark, and the design of important future projects such as establishing a mobile metrology laboratory, launching the quality certification project, and drafting more standards based on priorities.
