The session began with the recitation of verses from the Holy Qur’an.
At the outset, H.E. Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar praised the Council's continuous efforts in drafting clear, nationally-driven policies and highlighted the vital role of standards in the economic system of the country.
He emphasized that economic stability is not achievable without ensuring quality and adhering to standards. He described standards as essential for strengthening the national economy, safeguarding public health, expanding exports, and preventing the import and production of low-quality goods.
He also underscored that precise implementation of standards across the country builds trust between producers and consumers.
Following this, Mawlawi Mohammad Asif Qanit, Technical Deputy of the National Standards Authority, presented a comprehensive technical report on the recent activities regarding the development and revision of petroleum standards.
He stated that, based on the decree of the esteemed Amir al-Mu’minin (may Allah preserve him), four specialized meetings had been held over the past ten working days to thoroughly review the necessary documents.
He added that important practical measures were taken to prevent potential risks posed by petroleum and liquefied gas components, which will significantly enhance quality and consumer safety.
During the session, members of the High Council of Standards reviewed and approved a set of 6 standards and 51 testing methods.
These include standards related to diesel fuel, petrol, liquefied gas, and stable condensate gas—an important step toward improving petroleum product quality nationwide.
In conclusion, the Chairman of the Council emphasized the comprehensive and effective implementation of these standards and stated that close supervision and control are essential to ensure quality and prevent the import of non-standard products.
It was also resolved that serious measures be undertaken for the implementation and monitoring of the approved standards, and that coordination with relevant entities be ensured.
The meeting concluded with a prayer for success and well-being.
